Works of Women Authors (WoWA) studies a book a month written by a notable (non-contemporary) female author. For September/October, we will read Virginia Woolf’s “A Room of One’s Own.”
Please read Chapter 1 before arriving to discussion on Tuesday September 11. We will be reading a chapter a week of this short work, though each chapter is full of wonderful references to literature and art, so be prepared to fall deep into historical and literary discussions about women’s roles in writing and fiction. This work can open up discussons for future WoWA novel selections and how women writers have affected the literary market.
VENUE: The discussions will be held in the Long Discussion House on the seaside next to the SL Gobe Theatre on the new sLiterary Sim.

TIME: The discussions will be hosted by ToryLynn Writer at 7PM SL time on Tuesday evenings. You are welcome to come by earlier or later to check out the sLiterary Sim and see if anything is going on
(The SL Writing Calendar @ http://calendar.sliterary.com also lists other writing events happening on SL.)

GambitMojo Writer and Co. will be hosting a creative writing and ideas exchange session Saturdays from 4 PM to 5 PM SLT at the permanent location for the Long Discussion House on the newly-activated sLiterary sim:
We hope to hold continuing creative writing group meetings weekly.
All those who are interested in bouncing writing ideas off each other might want to drop by!
We hope that these sessions will help us all improve and perhaps finish our work (perhaps by helping each other with motivation and other support)!
See you Saturdays at 4 PM SLT at the Long Discussion House
The first official discussion series to be slated at the Long House will be on Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged.
A chapter a day, for each day of August. Grand finale party and all-day symposium on Galt’s Speech on the 31st.
Official Discussions begin at 8 PM SLT (PDT) at the Long Discussion House, next to the SL Globe Theatre. But, you’re welcome to drop by and discuss with whomever might be at the House throughout the day; the chat transcript in the region is logged here.
The Atlas Shrugged Discussion on SL blog is here.
The Long Discussion House is an experiment in connecting discussions on Second Life with the rest of the web. Within the vicinity of the Long Discussion House on sLiterary’s Cookie Island, chat is recorded to be viewable live on the web.
Various discussions will take place at the Long Discussion House throughout the day, as various international audiences drop by, join in, and leave. Those who enter the region will be notified in chat that their chat is being recorded to the above address. Pressing Ctrl-Alt-T will immediately show the spherical boundaries of the recording region.
This chat logging endeavor hopes to foster and continue discussions beyond Second Life, and perhaps, to immortalize the words said within the sphere of the Long Discussion House.
